Wrangler +
Only one session left!
The Wrangler + program is designed for students that want to continue their horsemanship skills at a higher level. These classes are open to students who have served in our wrangler program during summer camp. These opportunities exist for wranglers who are not involved in our regular riding program due to school or sports conflicts that exist during any given season. It allows them to continue to build skills both inside and outside of the arena.
Our focus in wrangler + during the winter and spring sessions will be on ranch work and trail obstacle riding with the purpose of developing confidence in the saddle. Face it - horses tend to jump first and figure it out later. They are leary of everything around them until they are able to trust and partner with you. With all of that ‘scary’ stuff out there the rider shouldn’t have to be concerned about logs, or bridges, or gates as they ride. Different surfaces, going over or through something, sidepassing to get to an object or around a tree can be challenging. We haven’t even addressed backing up which is the most uncomfortable movement a horse can make.
These sessions will focus on teaching riders to navigate simple obstacles and how to build on those experiences. We will also introduce cow work in our natural setting. Driving the herd, sorting and penning are skills that will be introduced.
Class is limited to 6 riders and will be conducted from 9-10:30 a.m. Wranglers can arrive on the ranch at 8:30 a.m. to catch, groom and tack up their horse
Cost per session: $100 per rider
Payment is due at time of sign-up by cash, check or venmo
