We are pleased to announce the dates for our 2023 Tennessee Equine Trail Competition events. This year we will offer five different events that will travel to different locations throughout Tennessee. Riders who are looking for a travel adventure can consider an additional competition in Silverthorne, CO as a destination location for trail event enthusiasts!
After last year’s buckle challenge series, several different facilities reached out to us asking if we could direct events at their particular farms. We are pleased to announce the following event schedule and locations. Once we have all the details for each event, they will go live on our website and you will be able to enter at that time.
This season we will offer each event as a “free standing’ competition that is not tied to a ‘series’. Participants will not have to enter a complete ‘series’ in order to compete. All points accumulated throughout the season will however move forward with each rider and can be used at a final event that we have determined as the Championship Buckle Event where competitors with the highest amount of points during the season can combine points toward winning the coveted Buckle during that final competition.
Riders may enter in the "Novice" or "Advanced" Divisions. For this year, we have added a new division for horse trainers: "Trainers" Division. To qualify to complete in the Trainers Division, the following criteria must be met:
- Must compete as advanced criteria.
- Rider will accumulate points throughout the season.
- Must ride a different horse in each competition.

New to this year’s lineup will be a tandem obstacle event hosted at Susan Garon’s farm in Cadiz, KY. on April 23. The tandem or ‘team event’ will happen in the morning and be a separate event prior to the afternoon individual competition. Riders have the option to enter both events. In the tandem competition, two riders will navigate a series of obstacles together and be judged on how they communicate with each other and their horses as they proceed thru the course. If a rider does not have a partner but would like to try this event, let us know. We will do our best to find another individual who will compete later in the day, but also needs help finding a partner to participate in the morning event. More details will be available when registration opens for this competition.
Breakaway Ranch will host a night ride that will be sure to help our summer riders ‘beat the heat’ during those hazy days of summer. The course will begin on the trail and then finish under the lights in their spectacular outdoor arena.
